“It's better than a human tutor because it's very patient”

Grace, a rising junior from Fairfax, Virginia, went looking for a tutor when she started struggling with math and chemistry. When her mom heard about Aristotle, the tutor who could adapt its teaching style to her preferences, she was very curious to try it out.

What stood out first was Aristotle's demeanor.

"It's just really patient and it breaks it down easily for me," Grace said.

A marathon month

In just one month, Grace did over 30 tutoring sessions with Aristotle. She used Aristotle to work directly from her class materials. If her notes are confusing, she doesn’t have to describe the entire lesson from memory. She only needs to upload them and point to the part that isn’t clicking.

"When I upload my notes, I can say, oh, I don't understand this section, and it'll explain in different ways that my teacher doesn't usually explain," she said. "If I don't get it the first time, I'll ask it to explain again, and it can adapt to my needs."

That flexibility also helps with homework. "Sometimes I don't have an answer key," Grace said. "So it's also really helpful for that."

The focused friend

Grace is happiest when the help stays attached to the actual question. Aristotle lets her work through the specific problem, then ask for more practice only if she wants it.

"When I ask for help on a specific question, we work through it," she said. "And if I need extra practice, I can ask and it'll provide that."

That makes Aristotle feel less like a lecturer and more like a peer sitting next to the assignment, calmly keeping the thread.

Judgment-free zone

Grace plays flute, sings, and is learning guitar. Next year, Grace's academic setlist gets heavier, as she takes on physics, pre-calculus, and SAT prep.

Those are exactly the places where she expects Aristotle to help, because the vibe matters as much as the explanation.

"It's better than a human tutor because it's very patient," Grace said, "and you don't feel like you're being judged at all."
